Family-Friendly Activities in Copenhagen: The Ultimate Guide

2023-10-31

Welcome to family-friendly Copenhagen! As winter swiftly approaches, the city continues to offer a plethora of fun and family-friendly activities for children and their families. In this guide, we'll introduce you to indoor and outdoor activities for kids of all ages.

DGI Byen: A Hub for Family Fun

DGI Byen is a treasure chest of fun for the entire family, and you can easily spend many hours here. If you're a family of water bugs, a visit to their swimming pool is a must. Here, the whole family can play, splash, dive, and burn off a ton of energy.
For the land crabs, and even water bugs with extra energy, you can book a bowling lane for a few hours. Bumper rails can be added to the lanes, making it enjoyable for the little ones—and for adults who may need a little extra help. Add some snacks and sodas to the mix, and you're in for a cozy bowling adventure.
Ever tried shuffleboard? If not, it's about time! It's easy to pick up, super fun, and even your too-cool-for-school teens might let a smile slip—and, of course, pretend it never happened!

Bastard Café: Games and Quality Time

If you love gathering around a cozy game of Monopoly, UNO, or the like, Bastard Café is the perfect place to visit. The café is brimming with board games, card games, strategy games, and more. Whether you're revisiting old favorites or discovering potential new family favorites, you're in for a treat. The café also serves food and drinks, so you can game away the hours in good company.

Playgrounds: Explore the City's Green Spots

When the weather is favorable, we recommend visiting some of the city's playgrounds. In the King's Garden, right in the heart of Copenhagen, you'll find a charming little playground for younger children. Besides the playground, the park has long paths that are perfect for a cosy stroll, and its spacious grassy fields are great for everything from tag to tumbling.

Be sure to visit the fantastic playground in Østre Anlæg, which features giant swings, a climbing castle, a play ship, and even a ball cage. Nestled in the middle of the park, it's also a lovely place for a walk, and you might even collect pine cones for your Christmas decorations.

If you happen to visit Tivoli, Rasmus Klump's playground is always a hit. With an array of swings, climbing frames, and slides, your kids will be entertained for hours. Once they're tired, you can grab some pancakes at the Pancake House or rest in the ride “Fyrtårnet”, the world's very first Rasmus Klump attraction.

To skip the queue at Tivoli's entrance, consider purchasing our Tivoli-combo ticket, which includes both the entrance ticket and a Classic Canal Tour at an affordable price.

Classic Canal Tour: Cozy Experience for the Entire Family

Join us for a cozy canal tour and experience Copenhagen from the water. The one-hour tour passes by iconic landmarks such as The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, and the stunning Opera House. You’ll sail through narrow canals and the old harbor, and since all boats are covered and heated, it's a wonderful way to see Copenhagen during the colder months. Tours are usually live-guided in both Danish and English, but there are also a few tours with audio-guide if you prefer.
