VR Boat Tour Amsterdam

For only parts of the cruise. During the cruise you wear the VR glases for the seven VR animation moments each lasting about 2 minutes. Between the VR moments you don't wear the glasses and get to see the current canal landscape accompanied by an audioguide about Amsterdam.

Yes, there is a host that welcomes you aboard and helps you with your VR glasses. Besides the host you are also guided by the voice from the audioguide (in English or Dutch) and during the animations you are guided by a fictional character from the 1650s.

The cruise takes 75 minutes. It is possible that due to traffic on the water or temporary closures the tour ends a bit earlier or later. 

The audiotour (when the VR headset is off) is provided in Dutch or English. Visitors can select Dutch or English as the spoken language during the VR experience.

For kids from the age of 6 the tour is appropriate. The VR glasses are designed to fit kids from the age of 6 onwards.

This should not be a problem. The VR animations have consiously been kept short, with each animation lasting no longer than 2 minutes. Between each animation there are extended breaks. 

If you do experience motion sickness you are able to remove the VR glasses at any time. Also, our host is there to help you if do experience any signs of motion sickness. 

Yes, the VR glasses are made to fit over most glases and lenses are no problem. 

It is possible to still follow this 75 min cruise. You will still be able to follow the story by listening to the audioguide and the host. You do miss the VR animations which makes this cruise unique.

Yes, you do need to reserve a seat on this cruise and cannot buy a ticket on the boat. You can reserve a spot by either buying a ticket online or in one of our ticketshops at several locations in the city.  

Yes, until 24 hours before the cruise you can freely cancel your ticket and receive a refund. Until 24 hours before the cruise you can also change your depature time to another time the same day or another day. With less than 24 hours till the cruise it is no longer possible to cancel or change the departure time. 

Yes, for special occasions it is possible to organise a private cruise of this product for your group. I you wish to do so please mail us at sales@stromma.nl to discuss possibilities. 

Yes, the boats have heating and a roof. Therefor this cruise is a great option during all seasons. 

Yes, there is a toilet on board.

It is not allowed to bring your own food and beverages. It is possible to buy food or drinks at the departure location shop. Greasy food is not allowed because the lenses from the VR glasses are very sensitive and very vulnerable for greasy residue left by greasy fingers. 

Food and drinks can be purchased before the cruise in the shops and consumed on board.

No, unfortunate there is no Wifi onboard. We do have mobile service onboard.

No, smoking is not allowed onboard.

Space on board is limited. Therefore we advise to leave large pieces of luggage at your hotel or place of residence. If this is not possible we will ask you to leave the luggage on the departing dock or at the shop at the location. We are not responsible for any damages or theft of personal belongings or luggage.

In general, pets are not allowed on board.

The cruise leaves from our Rijksmuseum departing location at Stadhouderskade 520 and also returns at the same location.  

Stromma does not own any parking places, there are parking places in the area. You have Parking Stadhouderskade (24 hour access), Parking De Hoofdstad (within a couple minutes walking distance).

We would advice to use public transport instead of parking because of how limited parking spots are (especially during the weekends) and because of the high parking costs.   

We would advise to be at the dock at least 15 minutes in advance so the host has enough time to explain the how to use the VR glasses appropriately. 

Only for a few exceptions. Say with exterme weather such as bad storms or floating ice. In such cases we will inform customers in advance to offer a free cancelation and refund or free booking change to another time or date.  

Unfortunately, our boats are not accessible for wheelchairs. There are always three steps to be taken to board, and many gangways are accessible by stairs. If the wheelchair can be folded and you can climb a few steps, it is possible to board. For safety reasons, the aisle must be kept clear. The wheelchair cannot be taken on board every boat.

This does provide some complications.

The audioguide is provided by using headphones, if it is not possible to use your hearing aid together with headphones you will miss out on this part of the cruise. 

The VR glases has built in audio either using a built in speaker or headphones. The speaker would be the best option but we cannot promise that each cruise has VR glasses with a built in speaker. 

If you have a hearing aid we would advice to contact us at info@stromma.nl, so we can try to accomodate you in the best way possible. 

We would say that this cruise is probably a bit too much for people who are sensory sensitive. With the stimuli from the audio guide, the animations and the boat this could be a lot to handle.

From central station you can take tram 2 or 12, step out at the Rijksmuseum stop and walk for a couple minutes to reach Stadhouderskade 520.

You could also take metro 52 in the direction of Station Zuid, step out at the Vijzelgracht stop and walk for 7 minutes to Stadhouderskade 520.

The closests public transport stops are Rijksmuseum, Museumplein and Vijzelgracht.

A stroller cannot be taken on board as for safety reasons, the aisle must be kept clear. You can of course leave your stroller at the store prior to boarding your cruise.
