NBTC Holland Marketing and Respons have published the ‘TOP50 Day attractions’ for 2014. The list contains the most popular amusement parks, zoos, museums, tours, cruises and other places of interest in the whole of the Netherlands. With more than 1.4 million visitors, Canal Company is in fifth place. The first four places are taken by the Efteling, the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Zaanse Schans.
The Jan van Riebeeck boat is not new to the canals, but its drive system is. With an electric engine and batteries, the canal boat has now been given a second, ‘zero emission’ lease of life, with which it fully meets the standards of tomorrow. In 2025, all boats on the canal must be emission-free, and the conversion of the Jan van Riebeeck shows that this is also possible with existing boats.
Canal is introducing as many as two apps as your personal guide on the canals. One especially for the Hop On – Hop Off Boat and another one for the other cruises. With the app, you can see where you are, look at photos and read information about the places of interest in the neighbourhood. After downloading, you will also have a good map available (which will also show where you are, offline as well) during your visit to Amsterdam.
