The Amsterdam canals are on the UNESCO heritage list. Residents and tourists enjoy this beautiful and historic water in the city every day. Unfortunately, keeping them clean is a daily task. Every year the canals produce between 40,000 and 60,000 kilos of plastic, 7,000 dead animals (mainly ducks) and 12,000 bicycles. Fortunately, Waternet helps to keep the canals as clean as possible. You too can contribute to this on 19 March.
By taking part in the National Clean-up Day, we'll join forces and really clean up together. It's a great way to show your commitment to Amsterdam. Maybe you're a resident of the city? Or do you find it fun or important to help clean our capital? Alone, with friends, colleagues or the family; become a supporter for two hours and participate for free. We will provide Pedal Boats and Open Boats with scoop nets and trash bags.
Nederland Schoon has a vision and mission to make the Netherlands a clean country, free of litter, by 2030. This can be achieved by contributing to a country where everyone throws away waste in the right way, where raw materials are reused and cleanup costs are minimal. To achieve this Nederland Schoon connects relevant parties, shares knowledge, facilitates proven approaches and motivates them to contribute to a litter-free Netherlands.
Nederland Schoon cannot make the Netherlands litter-free on its own. By residents, businesses and governments to connect and inspire, they are not alone. We as Stromma give full attention to this. Sustainability and the environment are also high on our list of priorities. We are working on making our entire fleet electric, we are a partner of the World Wildlife Fund and we support various sustainable projects such as those of Nederland Schoon.
