Take the Paddan sightseeing boats from Kungsportbron directly to Liseberg! Here, you’ll be greeted by a hot mug of glogg, the Swedish mulled wine, pepparkakor, traditional ginger cookies, unique panoramas over Gothenburg, festive Christmas music and fun guides. Liseberg is always worth a trip, but with no fewer than 5 million lights illuminating the darkness, visiting around Christmas is a unique time to visit the park. Go on one of the many rides, stroll through the many booths and stands to look for gifts and souvenirs, travel back in time in the Medieval village, and present your wish list to Santa Claus himself!

Head out to Gothenburg’s famous archipelago to visit the market on the island Hönö Klåva to experience the genuine Swedish maritime Christmas mood among fishing boots and archipelago houses. “Skärgården I Advent,” as it’s called in Swedish, has become a beloved tradition going into its sixteenth year now. And this year, the market has gotten even bigger and has been scheduled for an additional three Saturdays!

Hop aboard a classic archipelago ship to enjoy a traditional Swedish Christmas buffet with an unforgettable view. The buffet combines traditional Christmas favorites with completely new creations and of course also offers a variety of vegetarian options, all prepared directly in the onboard kitchens. Also, every onboard restaurant has received the Swedish KRAV certificate, testifying to using ecologically and sustainably sourced ingredients. And as these trips are extremely popular, booking ahead of time is advised.

Don’t miss out on the singing Christmas tree, Gothenburg’s very own take on New York’s famous Singing Christmas Tree. In 2004, Gothenburg started its own tradition on a singing Christmas tree which consists of several choir taking turns performing modern and traditional Christmas carols. Even Gothenburg’s Santa Lucia might come by for a visit!

Take a breather in the middle of all Christmas stress and relax to some classical music in the stunning setting of Gothenburg’s cathedral! The Santa Lucia concert – Luciakonsert in Swedish – sets the perfect mood for the holidays and reminds us of the light in the darkest times. Enjoy choral singing and music performed by the Gustavi youth choir – the Gustavi Ungdomskör – the boys’ and girls’ choirs and various instrumentalists.
