On this evening cruise, you enjoy delectable shrimps and the delightful scenery along the canal between Hjälmare Dock and Kungsör. Oldest navigable canal in Sweden
The 13km long Hjälmare Kanal links Lake Mälaren with Lake Hjälmaren, and it is now Sweden’s oldest navigable canal. The canal was taken into use in 1639, aimed to transport iron from the Central Swedish Mining District to Stockholm and further abroad.
During this dinner cruise we will pass several canal locks. The first one out of the Hjälmare dock, the next three by Hällby lock, two in Säby and the last two by Gravudden before we reach Arboga canal. Along the canal we will also pass Säterbo church and field around the canal were the king Karl XI just to exercise war.
Our shrimp come from sustainable sources and are wild-caught out of consideration for the health of the marine environment. Stromma actively works with questions regarding sustainability. We cooperate with the WWF for a cleaner Baltic Sea, almost all our restaurants are certified by KRAV, a Swedish association promoting sustainable food production and consumption, we only serve fair trade and eco-certified coffee and tea, and never use fish that is labeled red according to the WWF seafood guide.
