Travel to Sandhamn on M/S Strömma Kanal - one of the few passenger vessels that can navigate the shallow, winding Strömma Canal. The trip is guided all the way.
There’s a sundeck onboard, so you can sit back and take in the views as the archipelago passes by - perfect for photos, birdlife spotting, or simply relaxing.
Route & jetties along the way
The boat departs from Nybrokajen in central Stockholm and calls at several jetties on the way to Sandhamn:
- Talludden
- Lilla Björknäs
- Tollare
- Fisksätra (Saltsjö Pir)
- Boo
- Södra Lagnö
- Strömma
When booking, choose the jetty you’d like to depart from. Please let the crew know onboard if you wish to get off at any of the intermediate jetties.
What you’ll see on the cruise
Views shift from Stockholm’s lively quays to the greener inner archipelago, and then out towards the more open outer archipelago.
This is more than just transport to Sandhamn. The journey is a big part of the experience! You cruise close to shore through narrow passages, past jetties and sheltered bays, and by classic archipelago houses with gardens reaching down to the water. Further out, the scenery opens up with a real sea feel, skerries and small rocky islets.
The restaurant onboard the boat
Want to make the trip extra comfortable? Pre-book a lunch in the restaurant for the outbound or return journey. That way you’re guaranteed a table and a hot main course served onboard.
Please note that outside food is not permitted onboard.
Explore the archipelago island of Sandhamn
Once you arrive, you’ll have around 2 hours in Sandhamn. You can join a guided walking tour (about 30 minutes) or explore at your own pace. Sandhamn is car-free and well known for its sailing heritage, lively harbour atmosphere and easy coastal walks.
You’ll find cafés, restaurants, small shops and scenic paths - ideal if you’d like to see more than just the harbour.
