Christmas Buffet on Lake Mälaren & at Birka
The Christmas buffet itself is served in batches - the first part of the Christmas buffet is served on the boat and consists of, among other things, four types of herring, mead-buried salmon, Christmas ham, various kinds of sausages and homemade sourdough bread. The hot Christmas buffet and dessert buffet are served and enjoyed later in the evening at Restaurant Särimner at Birka. Enjoy, among other things, red wine-cooked ox cheek, moose mince steaks, roasted root vegetables, cream-cooked kale, and honey-sooted beets. The dessert buffet includes sweets such as vegan cake with dates and nuts, Crème brûlée, burnt almonds, and various kinds of Christmas sweets. A Viking-inspired and rustic Christmas buffet.
Guided Torchlight Walk, Fire Show & Jesters
During the evening, you will learn more about Vikings and how they celebrated their feasts during the guided torch walk through the ancient monument area, in the reconstructed Viking quarters, and at Birka's museum. There is also a fire show (outdoors) and at restaurant Särimner, jesters entertain during dinner.
Bar and Dance on the Return Trip
On board the boat during the return journey, the ship's bar is open, and the party continues. Perhaps some spontaneous dancing occurs if the mood is right!

Good to think about before Viking Christmas at Birka
For your experience to be as good as possible, we have listed some things that are good to think about before your visit to Birka.
- Pre-report Any Allergies and Cost Deviations
- Warm clothes and untidy shoes are recommended as the guided torch walk and fire show take place outdoors in natural surroundings. Especially important to keep in mind during rain/snow and cold!
Please note - in case of ice on Lake Mälaren, we cannot get to Birka. Instead, there will be an alternative route with a Christmas table and entertainment on board the boat and fire show at the pier.
