Archipelago boat trips
Among the most popular choices for tourists and Stockholmers alike are our boat trips to various islands and sights located in the Stockholm archipelago. If you’re looking for a guided tour to experience the most beautiful sights the archipelago has to offer without spending the entire day on a boat, the classic Archipelago Tour is the perfect choice. Or join us on a tour to Vaxholm, the unofficial capital of the inner archipelago, to explore the charming city and enjoy an ice cream on the pier with the locals. Should you be in the mood for a shorter tour, then the boat to Fjäderholmarna might be ideal for you: Stockholm’s nearest archipelago island lies only a 30-minute boat ride away from the city, and visitors can spend a few hours or even the whole day exploring and relaxing.
Full day cruises
If you’re looking to spend the whole day on the water and to really get to know the archipelago and its sights, Stromma offers two great day trips: The Canal Tour to Sandhamn takes you on a journey to the island of Sandhamn in the outer archipelago. The M/S Strömma Kanal is the only boat able to traffic this canal, making this trip an entirely unique experience. Or you join us for the Thousand Island Cruise, an excursion through the archipelago where we stop at several of the most beautiful and famous islands for guided tours. Both cruises show you the full beauty of the Stockholm archipelago in unrivaled depth.
Destination day trips
If you want to combine your boat trip with an additional cultural or historical attraction, our boat tours to various fascinating destinations offer you an experience out of the ordinary. With the Grand Canal Cruise to the Artipelag, you travel aboard one of Stromma’s classic ships through the archipelago to Stockholm’s most beautifully located art gallery. The boat tour to Vaxholms Kastell takes you to a historical castle just across the water from Vaxholm that now houses a military history museum, a café that’s perfect for a real Swedish “fika,” a hostel, and an art gallery. Or you may want to go on the Grand Canal Cruise to Gustavsberg. With a stop at Artipelag, this excursion takes you to Gustavsberg in the heart of the archipelago where you can take a leisurely stroll through town, relax in one of the many restaurants and cafés, and visit the art center Gustavsbergs Konsthall.
Excursions across Lake Mälaren
In addition to these archipelago trips, Stromma also offers a wide variety of tours and excursions across Lake Mälaren and to the many famous sights located in this historical environment. Our boat tour to Drottningholm Palace takes you to a historical palace that’s on the list of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites and one of the residences of the Swedish royal family. The cruise to Birka – The Viking City takes you to Sweden’s first city, located in the middle of lake Mälaren, where you will learn all there is to know about the fascinating world of the Vikings. This is a particular favorite of our younger guests! Our cruise across lake Mälaren to Mariefred takes you to the picturesque town of Mariefred with its world-famous Castle Gripsholm. Or join us on a cruise to Sigtuna, the historical heart of the old Swedish empire. Speaking of castles: with the cruise to Skokloster, you’re going to see one of Europe’s most beautiful Baroque palaces.
